City encourages public to contribute ideas and insights via its refreshed online platform

The City of Cape Town’s refreshed online Collaboration Platform is a dedicated digital space designed to enable residents and members of the public to engage in the development of the City. Through the platform, users can share ideas, participate in public consultation processes and propose innovative solutions to help build a more inclusive and sustainable City for all. The platform is accessible at https://capetown.govocal.com/en-GB/ where members of the public can register, comment, contribute ideas and provide feedback.
‘We are calling on our residents to register on the City’s Collaboration Platform which is a convenient and easy-to-use platform where one can share ideas that could shape various aspects of Cape Town. Residents can also partake in City campaigns that are relevant to them and provide comments on the various plans and projects out for public participation. We need input from our residents, their insights and ideas are key to shaping our future in this beautiful city,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, Alderman Theresa Uys.
The Collaboration Platform enables ward committee members, community members and organisations to participate in proposed City initiatives. These may include local developments such as new parks, road infrastructure upgrades, renaming processes, and city-wide campaigns such as draft by-laws and policies, strategies, and even opportunities to comment on how the City plans to spend its budget.
The collaboration platform has various helpful features which will assist residents to find information most relevant to them :
Multilingual Support: The platform is now available in all three of the City’s official languages (English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa) ensuring that everyone can engage in the language of their choice.
For You Section: To customise your experience. Campaigns relevant to your area and interests will now be prioritised, helping you find and access information faster.
Project Phases: Campaigns can now be organised into clear phases, making it easier to track progress and understand where projects are in their engagement lifecycle.
Events Section: Meeting information is now easier to find. A dedicated Events page lists all public meetings and includes direct links for virtual sessions. No more searching through campaign descriptions!

Not online? You can still participate.
Residents who are unable to access or use the online platform can still participate in all City processes by visiting their local Subcouncil offices, where staff can assist with information, submissions and public participation activities.
